Many
people wonder what you have to do to get
a dry basement.
A waterproof system involves breaking
wall ties and plugging holes. The area
that the foundation meets the footing is
properly clean followed by a thorough
spray.
Typically, the first step is to spray
the outside of the foundation with a
rubberized asphalt sealer. Water can
actually seep through concrete but the
asphalt seals it up with a waterproof
barrier. We use a product from Mar-Flex,
which is a Quick Seal membrane and used
as an exterior foundation Waterproofing
system. One should keep in mind that
waterproofing should not be confused
with damp-proofing.
